Tuesday, May 22 2007

Gisborne, New Zealand - Softlink, a world leading provider of library and information management solutions announced today that Gisborne District Council chose Softlink Liberty to facilitate access to the entire HB Williams Memorial Library collections across the district.

Being fully integrated and web-based, Liberty will promote remote access to the increasing range of service options offered by HB Williams Memorial Library. Liberty3 will improve the level of service provided by allowing library members to access their 'My Account' information, renew items, create 'interest' profiles and have automatic notifications sent via email.

Librarians will be able to determine RSS feeds for borrowers based on reading tastes, identify popular resources, automatically display new resources as they become available and communicate directly with library members on-line.

"The new system will significantly increase the levels of service that will be provided by the Library, especially bridging the equality gap with rural residents", said Pene Walsh, Library Manager. After a robust analysis of six different options Pene also commented that "Liberty will bring the Libraries management system in line with "world's best practice."

"Softlink is proud to partner with HB Williams. We look forward to working with the Library to support an enhanced level of service and an exceptional library experience for library staff and public members alike," said Catherine Leonard, Manager, Softlink Pacific Ltd.
