Softlink Europe, sponsors of the School Librarian of the Year Award 2009, would like to congratulate this year's winner – Lucy Bakewell, from Hill West Primary School Sutton Coldfield.

The winner was announced at an exciting event in London Zoo on the 5th October. The award was presented by special guest Anne Cassidy. This is the first time that a Primary School Librarian has won the award. The ceremony was also attended by Softlink's MD, Mr Alasdair Darroch. Softlink have sponsored many School Library Association activities over the years, and takes great pleasure in supporting this event. The importance of best practice in Libraries, promoted by the SLA Librarian of the year award, is inspirational for both children, and other professional librarians.
