Softlink partners with OverDrive for eBook distribution to schools in Australia

Tuesday, June 28 2011

Softlink has partnered with OverDrive, the leading global distributor of eBooks and other digital content, to bring school library collections into the 21st Century. OverDrive is a powerful platform for lending and managing a range of digital content including eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video.

Softlink's Oliver Library Management System (LMS) integrates with the OverDrive platform, for easy management of the digital collection. A custom website is provided for the school to suit its branding and individual collection.
Mr Hillary Noye, Softlink's Business Development Manager Asia Pacific, is excited about the chance of offering OverDrive to Australian schools.
"Softlink is excited to be a part of the eBook revolution in Australia. As a strong supporter of education in Australia, we look forward to assisting school libraries with enhancing their traditional collections and appealing to today's tech-savvy students by extending the reach of the library," said Mr Noye.
"At Softlink, we anticipate that most libraries will have their resources online and offer 24/7 access to catalogue information. Oliver is accessed via the web, to further increase the library's information sharing ability. Softlink has partnered with companies such as OverDrive to continually improve upon this concept.
"We are pleased to partner with OverDrive and to continually work towards providing invigorating solutions for libraries in schools."
With support for  Windows®, Mac®, iPod®, iPhone®, iPad®, Sony® Reader, Kobo™ eReader, Android™, BlackBerry®, and Windows Phone, OverDrive helps engage students on the devices used every day.
"As the leading distributor of eBooks worldwide, we are pleased to partner with Softlink to provide digital content to school libraries. Both companies have the vested interest of school library technology, and with Softlink's experience in Library Management Systems and OverDrive's expertise in eBooks, we can develop library solutions to serve the modern student," said Ms Claudia Weissman, OverDrive's Vice President of Sales.
Softlink is currently working with several schools that are using the Oliver LMS in conjunction with the OverDrive platform. OverDrive is available now to Australian schools for purchase, and can be integrated into any LMS.
