Softlink's 25th at QPLA!

Tuesday, October 21 2008

Softlink continued its 25th birthday celebrations at the Queensland Public Library Australia (QPLA) conference in Brisbane this week.

Some of the nation's most forward-thinking and innovative librarians were among the list of presenters and delegates at this year's conference - themed 'future thinking - future proofing' to secure the future of Public Libraries in Australia.

A hot topic on the lips of delegates: the continued effect of Queensland's council amalgamations upon the state's libraries, which meant QPLA this year was moved from Bundaberg Public, to the State Library in Brisbane.
Another hot topic at the event was the entertaining opening keynote and dinner speech made by popular Australian actor and author William McInnes, who shared glowing praise for the role of libraries in literacy, entertainment and learning in Australia.

In it's hometown of Brisbane, Softlink displayed Liberty for Public libraries at the conference trade exhibition, in addition to the Olly! Kid's catalogue and eReference - Softlink's leading reference and knowledge management solution.
